ESG Housing Society is a Calgary based nonprofit organization dedicated to providing affordable, thoughtfully designed housing for seniors.
Founded in 1972 as the Elder Statesmen Group, we began as a volunteer led initiative grounded in a simple belief: seniors deserve better living options. More than five decades later, that belief continues to guide our work.
Governed by a committed volunteer Board of Directors, ESG Housing Society operates with strong oversight, responsible stewardship, and a long term vision for sustainable senior housing. Our purpose has always been clear. To support seniors with safe, stable homes that preserve dignity and independence.
We serve seniors who value independence, stability, and connection to their communities.
Our residents include individuals living on fixed incomes, those who qualify for rental subsidies, and seniors seeking affordable market rent housing within established Calgary neighbourhoods.
This structure allows us to foster inclusive communities where seniors from diverse financial backgrounds live side by side.
We offer independent living environments designed to support autonomy, comfort, and peace of mind.
We provide well maintained buildings, thoughtfully designed suites, affordable rental options, and professional property management across Calgary. Our approach integrates subsidized and affordable market rent suites within the same communities, ensuring accessibility without compromising quality.
Affordable housing should never mean sacrificing safety, comfort, or care. We remain committed to financial sustainability so our communities stay stable and accessible for generations to come.
Community connection is central to everything we do.
From early infill developments to properties such as Bow Claire and Becker Manor, ESG Housing Society prioritizes locations within established Calgary neighbourhoods. By building within communities rather than apart from them, we help seniors remain close to familiar streets, services, and social networks.
Advocacy has long shaped our identity. From influencing senior housing standards in our early years to responding thoughtfully to evolving needs today, we combine experience, compassion, and responsible governance to create housing rooted in dignity and belonging.
Seniors deserve homes that support independence while strengthening community. That commitment defines ESG Housing Society.
Take the next step toward comfortable senior living in Calgary.
